In nature’s deep - 2021- Ongoing
Ongoing project on Træna, Husøy, Nordland. Exploring the influence of nature in a
symbiotic mix of old ceramic techniques, the sea and people.
Together with a seaweed harvester and Træna kommune I did a pit fire at Husøy with
ceramic objects that were covered in seaweed from Træna. After the heat had settled, I
dived down in the cold sea and placed the objects at different locations together with a
local underwater archeologist, so that the ocean and time can put a final touch on the
expression.
On the day of the firing 25.07.21, we had a children’s workshop at Husøy. Here the children
could make their own ceramic hooks with cast moulds that I had made based on the same
stone age hook that was found during an archaeological dig in the 1930s, and which also is
used as the logo for Træna kommune.
20 objects, stoneware, pitfired, from 10cm long* 3cm deep to 50cm long * 30cm deep and
all in between, now placed in the sea around the main island Husøy.
